Introduction
If people apply to Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) for a grant of legal assistance, then they give VLA private information about themselves and the legal matters in which they are involved.
VLA handles and protects all personal information it receives in accordance with:
- the Privacy Act 2001 (Cth)
- the Information Privacy Act 2000
- the Health Records Act 2001
- the regulations and principles made under those Acts, of which the Information Privacy Principles are the most significant.
This section summarises how VLA handles and protects the personal information it receives in relation to grants of legal assistance. See VLA’s website for a full copy of VLA’s Privacy management policy.
