Victoria Legal Aid’s (VLA) Quality Assurance team of Legal Quality Auditors and Compliance Officers conduct Quality Assurance Reviews of practitioner files. Our Reviews monitor the quality of legal services provided by practitioners on VLA’s specialist panels, and check that files meet our funding requirements, including that matters satisfy our funding guidelines.
When a Quality Assurance Review is scheduled, the practitioner’s files may be quality audited, compliance checked or both. A Quality Audit determines whether the practitioner’s files meet VLA’s practice standards. Compliance Checks are conducted to ensure that funding requirements are satisfied. These are set out in VLA’s compliance terms and conditions.
A graduated assessment of practitioner files is applied to determine the outcome following the file review. Information about Quality Assurance Reviews and how they are conducted can be accessed on our Quality Assurance page.
